This photographic series originates from a 35-mm roll of a feature film that I found in the decaying public landscape of the formerly industrial Belgian city of Charleroi. By blowing up some single frames, or parts of them, it is possible to recognise how the local environment, its dust, soil as well as the exposure of this film to the sun and rain of North-West Europe`s climate, have distinctively treated and shaped these pictures. In some it is possible to recognise the variable dots of the soundtrack; in others the scratches onto the film have partially erased the image, unlayering its colours and revealing these images` abstract and informal potential.
