I was invited to participate to a group exhibition in public space in Tulln, Austria. I decided to work with an already existing public sculpture located in the centre, by the main shopping street. This is a classical bronze statue representing Mercury, a gift from the mayor to the town as a symbol of its economic wealth and success. I used this ancient Greek myth symbolising trade and money and transformed it into a kind of contemporary sports brand. The title ”We are only in it for the money” is borrowed from a Frank Zappa album, which was a parody of The Beatles’ album ”Sergeant peppers lonely heart club band”.
